This
is a list of the quests available in the first module, and where
to find them. Only a brief description of each is given, however,
to avoid excessive spoilage. Quests are given in order from first
encountered to last.
MORE
BEER!
The
first quest you'll encounter, from the Innkeeper at the Bracksworth
Arms.
You won't be able to complete it until you break through to Culdeny
later on though.
A
DISCREET ASSIGNMENT
The
Mayor of the town is being blackmailed by a halfling woman, and
before
he'll let you leave the town you'll need to help him out by obtaining
the documents that were stolen from him.
THE
BLACKSMITH'S IRON
The
local blacksmith was expecting a shipment of iron from Fort Highmarch
in the south,
but it never arrived. You'll encounter the iron on your way south,
that will
allow Hadush to make a lot more equipment for you to buy as well.
THE
ROAD TO HIGHMARCH
Having
resolved his personal problem, Olaf wants you to take a message
south to Highmarch requesting supplies for the besieged town.
Creative use of the documents you obtained from Merin will also
allow you access out of the North gate, though this is not adviseable
at this stage of the story!
A
FOUL BEASTIE INDEED
Passing
by a farmhouse on the way to the south gate, you'll see a farmer
asking
for assistance. Kill the rats inside his barn to obtain a reward.
YET
MORE RATS?
Another
farmer to the west seems to be having trouble in his barn, though
of a different sort this time. Fun fact: Creative use of the rat's
tail from the previous quest will allow you to get away with murder
;)
A
CUNNING PREDATOR
Hinted
at by the previous farmer, this quirky sidequest is found out
in the paddocks
west of Bracksworth. Look for the cow saying "Moo" and
keep trying to talk to it until
it 'spill's the beans'.
NEW
ORDERS FOR BRACKSWORTH
Having
reached Highmarch, you are given a message to take back to the
Mayor.
You can opt to 'time lapse' back to Bracksworth if you want to
save on shoe leather.
THE
BANDIT BLOCKADE
The
bandits north of Bracksworth are a challenging lot. Most will
be stealthed,
so keep your eyes open. The bandit leader's camp is off the road
to the northeast.
STRANGE
NOISES DOWN BELOW
While
stopping by the church in Culdeny, asking the priestess why she's
so tired
yields this quest. Head down into the crypt during the night,
and follow the sounds
of digging. You'll soon come across a trapdoor...
RUMOURS
OF CONSPIRACY
Taking
the document found on the goblin leader's body back to Celeste
at the church starts this quest. Talk to Commander Ariel at the
Barracks to
continue it. Tip: When it comes time to get into the Gentleman's
club, brute
force is not advised...
THE
DOCKMASTER MYSTERY
Kipper
Bob is wandering around the docks area. Have a chat to him to
start this quest.
Tip: Search the dockmaster's house carefully, there is an important
clue on the ground...
KITH
AND KIN
A
Dwarven trader in the Seaspray Inn at Culdeny is the man to see
for this quest.
ILLEGAL
HUNTING IN THE CALESPUR RANGES
This
quest can be obtained from the Mayor's office in Culdeny, or from
a ranger inside
the forest itself (or even Commander Armin Wise, should you wander
in there early).
It's possible to get this quest as early as 3rd level, but I advise
trying until later
as it can be quite challenging.
Tip: The deer pelts can be returned to Armin for XP, or Luther
in Culdeny for gold.
AN
UNWELCOME GUEST
Mona
in the western part of the Calespur Ranges puts you onto this
quest.
Head into the caves and be prepared for a long journey underground.
THE
BARBARIAN THREAT
Once
the Tomar Fairchild has been confronted, this quest becomes available
at the Bracksworth Mayor's office. Olaf sends you to the local
Barracks for more information, and then you're allowed out the
East gate. If you were actually able to defeat Tomar in the Calespur
Ranges at 4th level, you could go straight to this quest, but
of course this is highly inadvisable!
THE
TOMB OF THE EXILED KNIGHT
On
your way to the Barbarian stronghold to the south, you'll come
across a
graveyard. Inside is the Spirit of a deceased knight who will
offer you this quest.
Very nice rewards, should you prove worthy.
THE
KIDNAP OF PRINCESS CRIOSA
On
returning from the Barbarian lands to the south, Bracksworth comes
under attack!
Fight your way to the Inn, and talk to Olaf. The town is locked
up tight after the fight so
access to Culdeny via the highway is no longer possible. The way
onward is through the
trapdoor outside the Inn's back door. Take supplies, it's a long
section.
